A Complete Guide to Dunham-Bush DBOIL-2 Refrigeration Oil: Selection, Operation and Maintenance

Por Qishanr Lubricants January 21st, 2026 vistas 28

I. Core Characteristics of DBOIL-2 Refrigeration Oil: Tailored for R22 Systems

DBOIL-2 is a mineral-based refrigerant oil with an excellent formula, featuring strong compatibility and stability, suitable for Dunham-Bush hermetic screw compressors.
Refrigerant Compatibility: Developed specifically for R22, it mixes well at high and low temperatures, prevents stratification, and is more energy-efficient than general-purpose oils.
High-Temperature Stability: Excellent oxidation resistance, not easy to coke, forms an oil film to prevent wear, and new oil meets standards for higher stability.
③ Suitable viscosity, balancing lubrication and heat dissipation, controlling internal temperature, and avoiding component aging and overheating risks.

II. Application Scenarios and Models: Precise Matching is Essential

DBOIL-2 is not a general-purpose oil and must be matched according to refrigerant and model to avoid faults.
It is compatible with R22 refrigerant. Do not mix with POE oil for R134a to prevent lubrication failure and compressor wear.
Suitable for multiple Dunham-Bush R22 water-cooled screw compressors, it can replace SUNISO 4GS; confirmation is required for other models.
Applicable to working conditions with evaporation temperature ≥ -25℃. PAG oil is recommended for low-temperature units.

III. Operation Guide: Full Process Specifications for Oil Change, Filling and Maintenance

Operations must follow the principles of precision, cleanliness and pollution prevention. Specific steps are as follows:

(1) Old Oil Change: Thorough Cleaning is Key

Oil change is required when the unit has operated for 7,000-9,000 hours or when oil indicators exceed standards.
  1. Preparation: Cut off power, prepare materials, and check filter status.
  2. Refrigerant Recovery: Recover to the condenser, cut off power when low pressure is close to vacuum.

(2) New Oil Filling: Precise Volume Control to Avoid Mistakes

  1. Drain Old Oil: Heat oil to 50-55℃, drain completely, clean filter screen, and replace filter if necessary.
  2. Flushing: Flush for 5 hours if oil is heavily contaminated, evacuate and hold pressure to confirm tightness.
  3. Use large-barrel new oil, check oil quality, and seal after opening to prevent pollution.

(3) Daily Maintenance: Regular Inspection Extends Lifespan

  1. Fill quantitatively to the middle line of the sight glass; refer to the equipment manual for filling volume.
Inspect oil quality regularly in daily use, handle abnormalities promptly, and ensure efficient operation of the unit.
  1. Recheck oil level 24-48 hours after operation and top up to a reasonable range.
